Just been quoted £76 for a PERC Battery is that correct.

Our aging Dell server has a PERC bettery warning so I contacted Dell who have quoted £76 for a new one.

 

Don't know why but I imagined it would be like a bios battery or similar but for that price it must be much more heavy duty.

 

I know you pay a bit for brand etc but does that price sound correct?

£76 is quite cheap compared to other battery backup modules...

I would also get a price from a Dell reseller like @Millgate. They might be slightly cheaper than Dell for the same part.

Nothing like a bios battery which is designed to provide a trickle to keep CMOS and RTC going on a trickle.

 

Perc battery is to ensure the write-back cache entries are committed to disk if power fails to the system.

Sounds about right - on our HP servers I usually pay £80 for the cache batteries.
