jjohnsoncantell Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Just some advice needed really. Will I run into any problems if I set up a GPO that contains settings for both Office 2016 and Office 2010? I am testing a new image but I want it to be used in a day to day environment so I've deployed it on a couple of clients in one of our IT rooms. I personally don't think there should be any issues but I'm a little wary of the policy adding registry keys for versions which aren't on said image. Any thoughts? Thanks for any help.
3s-gtech Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Shouldn't do. Our GPOs that handle these settings contain both sets (2013 and 2016). 1
Cazale Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Shouldn't do. I have seen exactly this in one school (Office 2010 and Office 2016 in one GPO). I suppose you could use something that I haven't (I tend to only add the basics, to prevent silly first run splash screens, nagging pop ups, etc), but I haven't had any problems at all. The one thing I would say, it probably is worth splitting them and putting them into two different GPOs simply so that you can retire the old 2010 policies at some point in the future. Having them combined with 2016 makes it slightly harder to remove them when you finally get rid of the last 2010 install. 1
jjohnsoncantell Posted May 18, 2016 Author Posted May 18, 2016 @Cazale, That would make sense indeed, I will do it that way. I do it for mostly that reason too and also for setting up trusted locations. Thanks for your help
