Hi

What am I doing wrong.

I have setup a vault in the Azure Recovery Service, downloaded and installed the Azure backup agent which now displays in DPM 2012R2 under the mangement section. Everytime I try to register the server in DPM it gives me an error when I select the machine certifcate I created using makecert.exe. The error is 'The current operation failed due to an internal service error 0x186df. Please retry the operation after sometime ID 100066'

I've tried to follow documentation and it suggests I need to upload the certifcate to azure first, but I can't work out how this is done (if at all)

Am I way off the beaten track?

We've been trialling Azure Backup (30 days / £125 free credit) with DPM2012 R2 during the past couple of weeks...

The installation guide was all online, but just in case this is what you need to do:

https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/dpm/2015/03/03/how-to-register-a-dpm-2012-sp1-or-later-server-to-backup-to-microsoft-azure/

I think that the certificate (method) is no longer required; you download "vault credentials" not certifcate, which is valid for 48 hours and you use that file to register the DPM2012 R2 Server

My wizard is different, it comes up asking for a certificate and not a credentials file option. I will try reinstalling the agent again.

what version of DPM 2012r2 are you running MYK-IT?

My DPM 2012R2 is 4.2.1254

The agent is 2.0.9037.0

DPM 2012 R2 Version: 4.2.1417.0 (Update Rollup 9)

Agent 2.0.9032.0 (although, 2.0.9037.0 is latest version)

You have downloaded, and installed the DPM version of the Azure Agent?

But is that still using the vault credentials as apposed to certificates. Can't think of another reason why the 'register wizard' would ask me for a certificate.

Yes, used vault credentials...

I assume that it was your DPM Server's "register wizard" that prompted (you) for a certificate? which would make sense, as your are currently pre-UR6.
