VSphere - Looking For A Consultant To Help With Upgrade

Found it. We have an Academic Support/Subscription for three years which expires next year.

 

You will need the logon for the VMware portal then or request for the downloads from Capita?

I was in exactly the same position, upgraded our VSphere cluster a few weeks back to v6 no problem but there was a couple of hurdles I needed to overcome as I was not left all the information from Capita/Northgate. Firstly our version of SQL was not compatible with version 6 so I needed to upgraded that first, not a problem but I didn't have the SA password for SQL on the management server, managed to reset it... from then the upgrade went fine. I found a couple of really handy guides which takes you through the process but after you've done it you realize there really isn't much to it!

 

From memory the basics were:

Upgrade SQL on Vsphere management Server

Upgrade Vsphere Server

Upgrade ESXi hosts using Update Manager, 1 host at a time until all met the required baseline in Update manager.

Upgrade Virtual Hardware.
