Sims clients default academic year

does anyone know a way to default all clients to the correct academic year?

 

people running reports in the wrong academic year and getting wrong data! (obviously!)

 

at the moment we have shown staff how to change it but I was wondering can you change the sims.ini?

I'm pretty sure that the calendar sets what academic year you are in - I could be wrong but that's what I'd expect.

I seem to remember reading in one of the manuals that it automatically sets to the current academic year for users who don't have permission to change it themselves, users who do have permission to change it have to do it manually. I wouldn't have thought many people need to have permission to change it, only the timetabler and whoever assigns pupils into classes.

thank you so much. I think you are right! I will pass on the info to the "sims team" would you have a clue where this setting would be to remove this access to change academic year?

I've just checked the sims permission spreadsheet and it states curriculum manager, timetabler and class teacher groups. The fact the class teacher group has permission to change it is a bit strange and inconvenient.

Does anyone know where I can manually change the academic year other than via Tools/Academic Management? I'm trying to run a report that uses different academic years as one of the filters, but I cannot add/change the new academic year anywhere?
