iPod Music Problem

I have an ipod which contains all of my music.

 

recently my computer hard drive was completely destroyed and i had to reinstall windows. I couldn't get into the computer far enough to backup any work, so i have lost my music on my computer hard drive.

 

Is there any way that i can't connect my ipod to my computer and get it to copy the music to my computer.

Make sure you iPod is in Disk Mode - and Explorer can see hidden files.

 

On your iPod harddrive, there's a directory called iPod Control\Music - although the files in there have weird names/are in weird directories - if you copy them to your harddrive, then scan it with iTunes, it should pick it all up fine.

http://www.yamipod.com/ seemed to do a good job for copying back iPod to PC last time I recommended it to a friend in the same situation. Don't have one myself so I can't say much more than that...

I use iTunes on a Mac and as far as I am aware the application will sync with your ipod when you connect it, only protected tracks from the iTunes store maybe a bit of a problem?
