From your backed up copy of ePortal, in the ePortal folder there is one called bin then win32 then i386, I believe from memory. I usually just copy all the files (about 3) from there and over the ones in the "new" installation. Even if you install over the top of your old ePoral, both the API file and these files will need replacing. Usually the settings.xml etc stay fine.

 

If that doesn't work, I would suggest double checking that within IIS there is still a symlink to "jakarta" as basically IIS can't handle .js files, so ePortal works by redirecting it to the apache installation. If that doesn't work you might need to contact Advanced i'm afraid, hard to help much more on a forum.

I'm now trying to restore the whole eportal directory from a windows backup.. Do i juat need to stop IIS and the eportal services?

Phew.. all sorted.. I uninstalled eportal and re-installed.. then followed the link2ict notes about checking the 'execute' option for the Jakarta handler mappings.

 

There was no mention about this in the Advanced learning notes!

I've never seen Lin2ICT notes because i'm not a Birmingham school, I have had problems before in the past though, and those are the things I always check for the type of error you have had.

 

Usually when I update now, I copy the old Admin and Facility folder to a backup location (or whatever you have them called) and just install over the top of them. The only problem is usually the redirect file and API needs sorting.

I took a snapshot of the server then did it the old L2ICT way, 2x installs ok here.
