Restore Server Virtual Server from backup image

Hi All,

 

I've got a Virtual Server running Windows Server 2012R2 that I need to restore from backup but once rebooted in to Restore mode it can't find the backup image. I've tried attaching the WindowsBackupImage folder on another VHD but when I try and start the server an error message is displayed saying that the resource (new VHD) is already in use. As far as I can tell nothing else is using that disk, any idea's how to solve this or alternative?

Dont you have to boot it from Media ?

Yes, but it need to be able to see the backup image to do a restore.

What was the backup image created with?

Windows Server Backup
