GRitchie Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Morning! I've been blessed with another member of staff (for 4/6 hours a week...) in our IT department. Having gone from only me, to an apprentice and now a Cover Supervisor/Tech, I'm feeling quite privileged. The issue I have however, is deciding what work to give the new Cover Supervisor? As mentioned, he's been allocated 4/6 hours a week with us (not necessarily all at once or always the same times). Being that he used to teach ICT, he's also helping out in IT lessons so the head thought I'd be able to give him permissions to help troubleshoot problems in the IT classroom, if there were any issues. IMO he doesn't really need permissions for this, more-so reminding him to check VGA cables if a monitor doesn't work etc.etc.etc. But for those 4/6 hours a week I have him, what could I give him to do? Don't want to set him anything too intense, but on the other hand I don't want to have him hoovering the server room; insulting his intelligence... Thanks!
mikeprice Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 As far as hoovering the server room - as long as it is not every day - it involves a level of trust - so I would say that is OK as long as you tackle it correctly. After all - I never let the cleaner in my server room - and I have never worked in a school that did!
GRitchie Posted April 26, 2016 Author Posted April 26, 2016 I should have added - we don't have a carpet in there either
