Hitachi ED-A100 Projector cover keeps shutting itself.

This projector has had numerous issues with its mirror/door, but this is a new one that we haven't found a solution for yet. The mirror comes out fine and projects fine for a few seconds before the display cuts out, the projector clicks twice like it's stuck and then closes itself, sometimes having to make a second attempt at closing. A red light then appears on the power light, but all the other lights are fine/off.

 

Can anyone offer any help or advice? Thanks.

We have the same issue with these projectors its related to a broken/faulty mirror motor. All of ours are now out or warranty so our fix is to open up the projector and unplug the mirror motor and replace it with an LED. This fools the projector into thinking that the motor is working correctly and the projector will stay on. Hope this helps

We disposed of one of these monstrosity brightly coloured projectors last year after the motor failed!

I had similar issues with one of these on Friday last week, although I thought it was sort of motor issue it turned out that there was a huge amount of dust built up inside the projector...I opened it up and cleaned it out and has been running fine since then.
