  1. Hi All, Bit of an odd thing came up today. Now that we are on Office 365, we make all of our new Shared Mailboxes within 365 itself, rather than creating them locally and migrating them like we do with new users. A few days ago we made a new shared inbox for our Junior School receptionists to share, but we found that while they could both open it within 365 Outlook, only one of them has been able to do so within the Outlook 2010 application. I myself have also tried to do it and cannot access it either. Here is the message that I and one of the receptionists get: "The set of folders cannot be opened. Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Either there are network problems or the Exchange Server is down for maintenance." We all have full permission to access the mailbox and the same version Outlook 2010 with the same windows updates for Outlook and Office 2010. Can anyone offer us any help? Many thanks and best regards, Connor Storey, IT Technician Our Lady's Abingdon School
  2. Yes we have, it is definitely isolated to this OU, as we have moved our test accounts to and from the group and it happens only when they are in the Junior School OU. We did wonder about Windows Updates, but it seems odd that they would only affect a single OU and not the entire lot. Thank you for your reply!
  3. Hi Edugeek, A very odd thing has popped up over the past week. Members of a particular user group (teachers in our Junior School) have suddenly started "hanging" during log off and shut down. They press whichever button it is and it plays the usual sound, but then gets stuck on the blank desktop stage (the part before it goes the the "Shutting Down/Logging Off" screen.) This happens on any Windows 7 PC in the school, but we haven't tried Windows 10 yet as the Junior School don't use it. I have spoken to my manager/Network Admin and he says no changes have been made to any policies recently. We aren't sure what it is that has caused it, but something is wrong with that particular user group when it comes to logging off and shutting down. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks and best regards, Connor Storey IT Technician Our Lady's Abingdon School
  4. We allow them write access because they sometimes share work there that the teacher needs to be able to see too, rather than it being mass emailed to them, the teacher just goes to the student shared drive and looks at their work there.
  5. At the school I work at we have been noticing a lot of students saving game .exe files and other files they shouldn't be into the shared area where we keep resources for them to use. Is there any way we can block them from running any .exe files from within that shared drive? Thanks to anyone who can help.
  6. They're actually accessing them. We think it may be to do with his profile because it is on every PC he logs on to.
  7. No UAC appears, and my manager is checking them when he has more time to go through it in depth. The admin tools are blocked by default by our group policy and only the domain admistrators have access to them, no one else.
  8. Today we discovered a single user was somehow able to access the admin tools in the start menu and able to use most of them. This user is a student and they all have such things disabled and are not allowed to even right click on anything, yet this one can do it on select icons such as the admin tools and the computer management option under the 'Computer' tab. Any ideas how this could have happened?
  9. Thanks, I'll run it by my manager and we'll see if that works.
  10. This projector has had numerous issues with its mirror/door, but this is a new one that we haven't found a solution for yet. The mirror comes out fine and projects fine for a few seconds before the display cuts out, the projector clicks twice like it's stuck and then closes itself, sometimes having to make a second attempt at closing. A red light then appears on the power light, but all the other lights are fine/off. Can anyone offer any help or advice? Thanks.
  11. We didn't find any other workaround, it seems uninstalling and them reinstalling Impero is the main fix, at least in our case.
  12. So far as I know we don't involve Impero with our printing
  13. We've removed the client and it solved the problem. Does anyone know anything about what caused it? We use Impero version 5.03 and I've found no mention of any "True" error on the Impero website.
  14. Yes we do use Impero, I'll have a check on the affected PCs for it. So you just uninstalled and then it behaved itself? I'll check with my head of Department and try that out. Thank you for your help
  15. Does anyone have any fixes for this? Two of my colleagues have this issue, exclusively on their PCs, but we've not resolved it still after 6 months. Any help would be appreciated.
