Office 2016 and Open Office 4.1.2

I have a strange issue with office 2016 and open office 4.1.2 on windows 10 Education.

 

if both office and open office are installed I get the following message for each user that logs on. its only effecting word, powerpoint and excel and the only way I can stop it from doing it is uninstalling open office completely.

 

 

Has anyone else had same issues or anybody know a resolution?

 

I can set default app which also resolves the problem but then if another logs on they get the message.

You could always use GPP to set the default for the filetype. Unless you want the user to decide.

The strange thing is the filetype is set to word 2016 on the machine

does open office still have a program that runs every time you logon? if so try disabling that

i cant see anything starting up.

 

I have managed to find out what causing it but not sure how to solve it.

 

When open office is installed it adds .ods, .odp and odt to extra filetype options in the default apps in each of the word powerpoint and excel programs.

 

If i tick those and open word excel and powerpoint the message doesnt show but then if another user logs on it displays again as those three filetypes wont be ticked

 

It seems even though those programs are already the default if every box isnt ticked it throws the meesgae up
