Hi everyone

Hope you can help .....really spent all day frustrated trying to solve this!

We upgraded our Macs to El Capitain from Mavericks. Now none of our printers work on the Macs.

You send a print job and it just says 'paused' for all print jobs. You can 'Resume' as I added that for all users to be able to do that in Mavericks but that doesn't start printing..the jobs just stay there. It is happening for all our printers - networked and USB. Something tells me it's not drivers.....

I can print a test page from Cups to any of these printers be it networked or USB . What does that indicate ?

It's like the printing subsystem is a bit screwed up. I did try 'resetting the print system' in the print dialogue by holding down CTRL but that hasn't worked.

Any Mac experts out there I'd be so grateful as time wise I am running out of ideas!

Thank you.

We had to install the correct print driver, as well as change the way printers were deployed, when we started getting issues with Yosemite, very much the same issues. We had been using WGM and had to move to Profile Manager finally, but I had to put on the correct drivers from the manufacturer. The built-in wouldn't cut it, the server doesn't deploy them like Windows, was a pain. ARD should speed it up to deploy though.

I was having issues a few weeks ago and since we push our servers out via Profile Manager we reset them and I found we needed to set the printers up as LPD printers and not IPP.

Another issue we are running into is print drivers and I've turned to GimpPrint to solve a lot of those conflicts.
