Oops_my_bad Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 Hi All, Some of our teachers have a drive mapped which lets them have read-only access to all students home directories. They've been complaining that it's taking ages to open the share. I've seen it happen and it takes about 20 minutes for it to load - can sort of understand why, the share contains almost a thousands folders. This happens on any PC - even my own which is on the same switch as the server In the past I've split the folders up into year groups, which eliminated the problem. But this created a load of problems elsewhere with some of the software we use so it was put back. I'm wondering if it could have anything to do with the NIC config on the server or clients?? I'm running 2003 R2 and all XP clients
