GTX Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Morning all, Lastnight i was trying to deploy a windows 10 OS via WDS. Added the boot image. When it comes to adding the install.wim it cant be found on the windows 10 ISO. I read that windows 10 uses .esd. But how do you get the install.wim for windows 10 Pro so we can deploy it? Rick.
IAMCloud_Curt Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Hi Rick. If you go onto your deployment server where WDS is installed. Drop down your server list and you should have a "Install Images" folder. First things first, if you haven't already create a Install Group and call it something like "Custom Images" for example. Then drop down the arrow on your "Install Images" folder, and right click "Custom Images" then click "Add Install Image" Browse to your Windows 10 disc or folder if extracted from a disc, in the Sources folder you should see an "install.wim" file, just select that and let WDS do it's processing and you should then have a fresh copy of Windows 10 on your WDS server. Let me know if you need any help mate. Curt 1
Arthur Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 I read that Windows 10 uses .esd Only some of the Windows 10 ISOs use ESD images. IIRC, ISOs downloaded via the Media Creation Tool do, but you wouldn't use these anyway. how do you get the install.wim for windows 10 Pro so we can deploy it Download the ISO through the VLSC. 1
