Encryption for Toshiba Laptop

Hi Guys..

 

I have problem with Toshiba Laptop.. Model are Saterllite Pro R50-C-116

I have tryed installed Windows 7 Enterprise and use Bitlocker that not work due TPM not compatable.

 

Basically i want to Encryption the school new laptops.. unfortunately i have no luck due that hard drive has been set as GPT instead of MBR.

 

I have tryed to convert GPT to MBR in different software which were avaliable on online.. still no luck after i tryed to convert to MBR.

 

I want to try use encryption software such as Truecrypt ( Did not work due need MBR Drive instead of DPT and no safe to use), Veracrypt ( Does not support DPT drive only MBR) etc still no luck

 

anyone have any idea what i can do to get this Laptop Encryption before given it to Staff

Have you considered Windows 10? Its version of Bitlocker is much improved, as it only encrypts the actual data rather than the whole volume like Windows 7.

 

This will save considerable amounts of time, bearing in mind 1TB hard drives are very common, yet the end user may only be using a fraction of this.

Windows 8/8.1 and 10 can encrypt the volume without a TPM. In 7 you'll need to use a memory stick.

Thanks 3s-gtech, i will try run Windows 10 and see if that works.. and when you mention that in 7 you will need to use a memory stick? what you mean?

do you mean encrypt from usb to enter windows 7? is that what you mean?

The memory stick works as a companion to Bitlocker in place of the TPM. It's a bit of a poor solution, because it's easy for the user to lose the stick and be locked out.

In saying that, a lot of banks use Smart cards, so when you leave your desktop it automatically locks itself.... so it has its place
