Hi

Our Metro Electro and Echo are dead..

Heinemann were trying to tell me it was DNS untill I saw in the IIS snap in that the Default Web Site was stopped

I tried to start the Default Web Site and I got an error "The process cannot access the files because it is being used by another process"

Now I am stummped..

Did research on the net

Ran net stat -ano and nothing is using port 80 or 443

followed the instructions in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/890015/en-us

But there was no ListenOnlyList in the registry under Parameters

I have these errors in the Event Log when I try to start the Default Web Site

Is this in 2003 server? If so, Metro electro does not work on that platform.

Works fine for us on 2003 - you do need to buy the 2003 discs though.

On our server Metro is set-up under IIS as a virtual folder - Metro pointing to C:\Program Files\Heinemann Online\websites\Metro

Absolutely correct. The 2003 setup disc version is required but works fine.

Anything else using IIS on the server?

If it comes to reinstalling Metro Electro don't forget to backup you user databases first 'cos it'll over write them (as I found out to my cost a couple of years back when we moved to 2003).

Yes I have the 2003 Disks..

I have Metro and Echo on the Application Server and both of them are down.....

Echo uses a diffrent database than Metro so reinstalling Metro won't sort the problem out..

I cannot start the Default Web Site in IIS..

Have you tried restarting the server and then seeing whether or not you can start the process?

Rebooted and patched and updated and rebooted:mad:
