[windows phone 8] WhatsApp Questions

So, tired of paying for picture messaging on my "unlimited data" SIM I installed WhatsApp and it's found a bunch of folk that I probably should have deleted from my contacts years ago. First question is, do I show up to them if they've already deleted me from their contacts?

 

Second question is that I've tried to go into the privacy settings to make alterations but I can't do that because I'm "offline", even though I'm connected to both cell and wireless networks. (I tried turning off the WiFi in case it was blocked by the school's webfilter and it made no difference). Anyone know how to access these settings?

If your not in the other person's contacts they won't see you, if you are however in them they will find out on next refresh if they scroll up and down contacts, you can block users to stop them contacting you however but it still shows you up I believe making you look ignorant.

 

Q2 never seen that myself so cannot comment but I've edited mine before ok and its never had that error maybe turn it off and on again?

Cheers! There were a few on my "revenge is a dish best served cold" list who have probably long since deleted me and I was a bit worried that I might pop up on their radar again.
