edutech4schools Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Hi all, Just had a raid drive flashing amber on an old Dell Power Edge 2900 (no hot swap drive installed) I have pulled the drive out so I can order a new one, but have realized the server does not have Dell Open Manage installed. Just went to the dell website and it lists 53 downloads under Systems Management with a lot named Dell Open Manage. Which download do I need to get into the raid config. Also, should I put the faulty drive back while the new one gets sent out?
sted Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 its all a guessing game tbh trying to find the right open manage as to the drive dont put it back in it may sort of work try and rebuild and fail again almost definitely better out 1
Sagima Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 That is quite old. I reckon its the latest version 7 from this page Dell OpenManage Downloads Explained - Systems Management - Wiki - Systems Management - Dell Community but there's a version 6.5 on there as well if you want. 1
PotNoodleTech Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 If you're struggling with open manage, I would manually reboot it and go into the RAID BIOS setup. That way, you know it's gonna work 100% right.

The array will quite happily rebuild itself when the drive gets replaced.
edutech4schools Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 Got a drive this morning and after putting it in it has rebuilt and is now OK.
twin--turbo Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Never really bothered with OM. Ocasionally think about installing it on ESX but more to do and DRAC does most of what we need. New 730's have NFC for the DRAC too I configured ours from my phone TT
