JJonas Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Our LEA is switching to using Updata as an ISP. We have seen a presentation from them and it looks very impressive, however as far as we can tell no other schools in Norfolk are using them at the moment. They are also expensive for the install compared to some other providers we are looking at. We have made enquiries with RM, and cost wise they look like the better deal as there are no up front install costs, We have also found a number of Norfolk schools who have been using them for quite some time and are more than happy with the level of service they provide. So if you can let me know your opinions(on here or via PM) on Updata as an ISP that would be great.
enjay Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I think Updata are owned by Capita. Infer what you will from that...
Wave9_Lee Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Updata were acquired by Capita about 2 years ago. The main principles (MD, Sales Director) left the business and it's now been incorporated into Capita IT Services. If you need an alternative quote, I'd be happy to oblige! kind regards Lee
colacao82 Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 We use UpData and I have to say that I'm pretty happy with them. Our UpData owned Cisco router packed up and they replaced it within 4 hours! Whenever I talk to their field engineers they're always knowledgeable and friendly.
Zammo Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Our LEA switched from AtomWide to Updata a few years back. Service hasn't been great and a number of Schools have felt obliged to source their internet and services elsewhere.
RobFuller Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 We moved away from a connection run by Updata, fast as possible!
