I was wondering if anyone knew if there was some software, or some setting somewhere which would give a screen a resistant edge?

By this I mean requiring the mouse to move further (i.e. with more effort) to go over to the other screen, or require a key combination to allow the mouse to move over, rather than accidental knocking it over to the other monitor.

I am pretty sure DisplayFusion does this but its not free. I bought it off steam sales ages ago.

Thanks @ZeroHour, I will try the trial version out tonight before purchasing. It seems to have a lot of cool features in it. :)

Not sure if it does it but I use UltraMon to have my taskbar across both screens and use it for other bits like screensaver/desktop, might be worth a look too.

Thanks @MatthewL I will check that out too. :)

Windows 10 has that feature built-in. It's called Sticky Corners.

Unfortunately it's not just the corners I need this on, but very good to know, thanks. :)

On ubuntu using unity the setting is in gconf. The keys are:

/apps/compiz-1/plugins/unityshell/screen0/options/stop_velocity

/apps/compiz-1/plugins/unityshell/screen0/options/overcome_pressure

Suggested settings are:

overcome_pressure=1

stop_velocity=20

You can reduce stop_velocity further if you want.

Thanks all, in the end I used Dual Monitor Tools - DMT Cursor as suggested by @Steve21, this had the best settings for me (a sticky cursor movement between screens with adjustable resistance control) and the rotate screens function is nice too. Also had the added benefit of being FREE! :D

I also purchased DisplayFusion suggested by @ZeroHour, because of the myriad of other functions, including multi-monitor taskbar with relevant windows and storing and switching between multiple monitor profiles. :D

Thank you all! :)

^^ This

Strangely it didn't work on mine, couldn't find out why, and in the article hyperlinked the user couldn't disable his. Certainly happy with the solution I got though. :)
