...Surely the simplest solution is just to take all watches off candidates before they enter the exam? They do the same for phones here...and always have a clock at the front of the room...

 

Or if that is too much work instruct candidates to remove their watches and leave them in view on their table whilst the exam is in progress.

Any electronic devices are normally taken off aren't they? (bar calculator obviously), So allow analogue watches and don't allow any digital/smart seems like the right path to go.

Surprised this has only become news now, there have been videos on YouTube advertising such watches for over 5 years

I've taken Microsoft exams at testing centres for a number of years and things have changed! The last one I took last year I had to empty out my pockets, leave watches etc in a locker, and I even had to pull up by trouser legs and sleeves so they could check there was nothing written on them!

Try taking the Indian Army entrance exam. They have to strip to their underwear
