“Is there any particular reason? The drivers may not be available on the system if it is causing an issue. You were made a local administrator so you should be able to install the drivers from the CD.

 

However, if it is a wireless printer, it is likely to be because you are connected to the VPN.”

“Hadn’t thought of the vpn causing some issues.

 

I need however the vpn access as that’s where I am trying to print from

 

Maybe we can catch up tomorrow and I will aim to work around for now”

 

Can anyone help me with this little gem? I have no words to describe the variety of emotions and solutions to this issue.

What VPN server/client are you running?

 

It sounds to me like you're using a full tunnel rather than split tunnel, the latter will allow you to access both local and remote resources whilst connected to the VPN.

Maybe they can jus email the doc's to them selves and print out. If they want to access IP resources from/on their home network this may open up security vunerabilities to your internal network.

 

I really can't see them printing out a lot at home because it is probably their printer and Ink.

 

As well as this you may ask what they are printing out to make sure it is nothing confidential, child protection etc.

I was honestly not expecting a legitimate technical response to this. We are using a Microsoft RAS for the VPN. The only thing that i could come up with was connecting the printer by USB.
