Wow, you would think they would like their name being linked, making people think of their product first. It's not going to change anything though with the public on mass. The image above has not been photoshopped... I mean GIMPed. ;)

The reason they are so fussy is that they do not want the name of their product to become a generic term:

Far too late ... they need to follow others example and accept that the term becomes part of language and is continued advertising.

The market leader search engine stays in everyone's mind due to people googling (no upper case and used as a verb)

I'm sure Hoover didn't object to people hoovering their carpets either.

The main reason people know the market lead photo editor is photo editor is Photoshop is because so much is shopped (abbreviated, no capital, used as a verb)

Adobe just sounds petulant and there's no way the tide will turn. King Cnut had problems with that one :D

Very good, very good! :D Though, wasn't Cnut trying to prove he didn't have control over everything, whereas Adobe seem to believe they do? ;)

Tell that to Hoover. Or Sellotape. Or to post-it notes. Or to Biro. To google to a certain extent. I've even heard people use the word iPhone to describe generic smartphones.

Anyone calling a generic smartphone an iPhone deserves a slap, that's just ridiculous.

However in this case, I call rubbish. I think that note has been Photoshopped[emoji768][emoji769]
