Smart Notebook on Windows 10

Dunno if this is Windoze 10 ior Smart Notebook - so sorry if it is the wrong forum

But

 

Deputy Head (who has updated to Windows 10 on his own ) asked me to update Flash on his Laptop - OK no problem - but why - anyway - just did it

 

He checked and it turned out that his problem was that a thing he had in Smart Notebook was saying that Flash needed updating - after updating it to the latest version it STILL said he needed to update

tried obvious stuff - e.g. restart PC while I think what else to do

 

Tried the same Notebook file on another PC (on Win 7) and it works fine

 

Any ideas????

Windows 10 applies updates differently to Flash than Windows 7. If you navigate here on your Windows 10 device, it should tell you what version is installed. If it's out of date, then you need to download/install KB3135782 (the latest at the time of writing).

Are both types of Flash fully updated (the MS version for IE and the NPAPI one for other browsers)?

flash on windows 8/8.1/10 is built into windows so you cant install/update it (other than windows update) iirc smart can use the firefox plugin version which can be installed/updated

I can't seem to get SMART Notebook 11 to install on Windows 10 at all.. I think there may be a few compatibility issues. If I run through the MSI manually it works fine but my silent deployments no longer work. I get an error message about no items selected from the transform but I know this isn't the case! I had a similar issue with Windows 8 and I believe it was a UAC issue just can't seem to fix it this time.

I've had no issues installing Smart Notebook 11.4 as part of a base image on Windows 10 Edu, with UAC enabled as standard.

Hmm I'll try to create a new MST then. The one I have has been working fine with Windows 7 though! Thanks

I guess the thing to check is it is 11.4, as there are of course a handful of version 11 versions. 11.4+ is also needed for newer drivers/whiteboards, as its default/included drivers do not always work.

that with smart usually means it thinks an older version is still installed even though its not you might need an uninstaller (i usually use the depreciated windows installer cleanup tool) or reghack it out
