thimon Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 all i know about deadpool is people seem to be happy there was a "r" rated movie about it still think by the sound its one i can miss This was definitely made as a film for the fans, and in my opinion they got him spot on. I think that's why everyone is happy it got an R / 15 rating, anything else would be weird, it would be like if they made Dredd a PG-13 / 12A.

I consider myself a die hard Deadpool fan (I was lol'ing at so many jokes in the film and everyone else didn't seem to get them!) and for me this film was perfect, yes a few things are different to the comics but I can see why they had to do them. This film would no way would of worked as a pg-13 and a rating of 15 is where it should be at to get the full Deadpool experience! If it was a 13 rated the film would of been around 5 minutes long!

That's possibly why I wasn't hugely impressed (not a pre-existing fan). It is good that they are starting to be prepared to go R/15/18 rated for films, though. It's frustrating when films have obviously been toned down to try to get the kiddies in.

Blade Trinity, a perfect example of how you should not dumb down your material to "access a wider audience". If the original material has crude humour and gore, keep it in!
synaesthesia Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Funnily enough, Blade Trinity's character played by Ryan Reynolds was a lot closer to Deadpool than his actual Deadpool character from Wolverine Origins At least he got some proper humour in Trinity and also gave me my favourite ever insult. "You .... juggling thunder ...."
Duranis Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 "You .... juggling thunder ...." lol I used that expression the other day when I was describing someone to my other half, she didn't get the reference... Taking my oldest boy to watch this tonight. Not a massively into Deadpool but really looking forward to something a little different.
synaesthesia Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 OK, so that film was absolutely fantastic. After the first 15 minutes I was a little worried that all the funny bits from the trailers were already gone. Thankfully they continued and got better. Colossus was oddly done bearing in mind he's more human-like with the ability to turn his skin into metal (see X2, Last Stand and comics) but still, enjoyed never the less. Loved the little and not so subtle digs at the rest of the franchise. Lots of in-jokes and most of them not so obscure as to alienate anyone who hasn't been under a rock and hasn't seen the X-Men films. Doesn't take itself too seriously, and testament to the whole thing was that it's just not possible to imagine anyone else playing Deadpool other than Ryan Reynolds.
bald_pig Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Watched it today at the IMAX (first film i've seen in imax!), superb film, but kind of surprised it wasn't an 18, there were some bits that I thought would have pushed it to an 18 rating, especially considering it was rated R over in the states. Also, wore this shirt

synaesthesia Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Giggidy. Cannot wait. If it can pull off what the first did (make everyone think all the funny stuff was in the trailers but OH NO) then it'll be awesome
Garacesh Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 [Not really: This is fan art] Why must you get my hopes up like that?
6Foot2 Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Why must you get my hopes up like that? Sorry. It just looked too good not to post. Also: Deadpool: Number Two (on a toilet door)
