Offline Files - Access Deneid

Can anyone help please?

 

I have just enabled BitLocker on my laptop as it doesn't have the TPM module, I have Encrypted the D: drive but left the C: drive alone as this has the operating system on. I have now gone to offline files and tried to encrypt it but get the error message below:-

 

Unable to encrypt offline files

Access is denied.

 

Can anyone shed some light on this please?

I just have one partition and encrypt the whole lot - offline files seem to work fine.

 

I would imagine that all sorts of bits and pieces get saved on the OS drive, so it makes sense to encrypt that too.

My boss didn't want the OS encrypted as didn't want to have that password protected, that's why we have gone with just one of the drives. I understand that the offline files are stored on the C:\ drive but as I haven't touched that I don't understand the error message im getting or why as its only the D:\ drive ive encrypted

I thought Bitlocker was "whole drive" only. How are you encrypting a folder?

 

I still think that there will be potentially sensitive temp files and the like being written to C:, so it's leaving a security hole by not encrypting it.

you can partition the HDD up and then use BitLocker on certain drives

Yep, but you said you'd encrypted the D drive and the Offline files were on the (unencrypted) C drive.
