adamholt1 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Bit of a strange one here and not sure what's really happening. In terms of Hyper V - I'd say i know enough but wouldn't say i'm an expert! It's just seemed to work in the past...... Got 2 virtual servers and they are both running exceptionally slow, one more so than the other. The main concern is the Print Server which is a VM running papercut. For some reason it is also running at 100% CPU whenever you do anything on it. The server hosting HyperV is absolutely fine performance and spec wise. It is also performing exceptionally slow when transferring data to/from it. If i ping it the response times can be as high as 180ms. Rest of the network seems fine traffic wise and pings all fine even the Hypervisor pings fine. Any ideas? Am i missing something straight forward? Thanks

Big_Ted Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Yeah as suggested look what service is making it unhappy. If it is pc-app then have a look in the service and server log files. Any timeouts etc? could be a spec issue and the server is being stressed due to all the calls coming into papercut.
dapaulio Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 (edited) We had a similar issue at a primary school. Single hyper v server showing network latency across all servers. Turned out to be a faulty vm. Check your hyper v nic driver is upto date. Down all your vms and see if the latency stabilises. Power on you vms one at a time to see which one screws things up. Sound like you may want to start with your print server if that is showing abnormal behaviour. If you do narrow it down to one server back it up and delete the vm and recreate it as a new vm (not imported) Edited February 9, 2016 by dapaulio
dapaulio Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Thinking back we also had an issue where random vms would show latency and become not pingable but still remain online in hv manager. are the hyper v network cards broadcom adapters? Read https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2986895 . It doesn't exactly match your symptoms but may be a contributing factor.
