ZeroHour Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 (edited) Post any feedback good or bad and issues with the iOS beta app here. For details about joining the beta see: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/165790-edugeek-mobile-app-beta-testers-needed.html Edited February 8, 2016 by ZeroHour
Norphy Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Copied from the other thread: It's all... differenty There's a lot more white space than there used to be and the font is a lot bigger in the thread preview. Means that there is a lot less being displayed on smaller phones such as the iPhone 5/5s/5c Its very smooth but it seems to take longer to load threads than the old version and seems slower overall to me.
dastrix Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 (edited) Had a look this morning and all was fab, however i have noticed now that all the forums are blank ie no topics, i am using ios9 on a iphone6 UPDATE Seems it was our iboss in school two urls with an image where being categorised as Firefox browser which we block. dblight Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 I like it. Its slicker and seems more responsive. Tapatalk uses the same interface so it fits in with that.
NokiX Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 I like it also, very responsive and easy to navigate but I'll see how it goes for the next few days.
newpersn Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Looking and feels great. Cleaner look aswell. Quick to loads topics. I'll give it a few weeks on both iPad and iPhone
elsiegee40 Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 (edited) Seems fine. I don't particularly like the font. The d and b without 'tails' irritate me. The p is fine, so why not b and d? * mutter* For those not using the ios beta app: Edited February 11, 2016 by elsiegee40
dblight Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 I would like to see a subscribe button from the 3 dot menu on the top when reading a thread. I see it does have it on the post preview but would be handy to have the option inside the thread. 2

I could never get it working on the old app. 2
elsiegee40 Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 I never had problems with multi quote in the old app. It was easier in the android app though 1
JonThompson Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Liking the new layout. Very clean and clear to read. I like the fact you now get a few lines of the thread underneath the subject. It does seem slightly slower to load the threads from app startup, but once your up and running its fine. 1
elsiegee40 Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Is it just me or does the symbol next to thanks look like someone is praying? [emoji120]. [emoji122] or [emoji106]🏻 Would look better 2
NokiX Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 It seems that when you enable notifications they don't disappear since I opened the app and checked my notifications and marked the unread posts as read and it still shows 4 notifications on the app on my home screen. Even if I open the notification menu on my iPhone and open the notification itself it still doesn't remove the number of notifications on the app itself.
elsiegee40 Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Having installed the Android beta app into my tablet now, what is very apparent is the difference in fonts. Shouldn't they be consistent across apps?

Even if I open the notification menu on my iPhone and open the notification itself it still doesn't remove the number of notifications on the app itself. A new beta will be coming in the next couple of weeks to handle notifications better but I dont actually know if iOS clears home screen after you read them as most of my apps dont seem to do that. Having installed the Android beta app into my tablet now, what is very apparent is the difference in fonts. Shouldn't they be consistent across apps? I suspect its more to do with system installed fonts. Will these apps work with the new forum? They do work in a basic sense but there are a few issues.
dastrix Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 I am getting issues with links not opening in the app 1
datar_ Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but the notification count is a bit annoying It seems to be polling the unread, tab/pane/window (whatever lingo it is ) into the badge count on the home screen (Currently on 107 - haha). As far as I am aware, using the app, everything seems spot on, the subscribed threads come to my lock screen and in my notification center as expected, not too big a fan of the Night Mode, the colours are a bit off, I can't quite describe that; Browsing the forums can feel a bit cumbersome but I feel that is just due to the sheer amount of content that is on EduGeek, I'm currently happy using the app as like a Mobile someone has replied to this or I've got a new PM, at bit like using Outlook App for quick replies rather than a full desktop experience. I haven't got an iPad to try it on but I would be willing to bet the forums experience would be a lot better on a much larger screen. The good news is, it's an App I'm starting to use daily and it's eating into my reddit time 1

A newer beta is being reviewed by Apple right now which includes a new notifications menu so it should hopefully be released next week.
ZeroHour Posted March 6, 2016 Author Posted March 6, 2016 iOS update was approved quickly, you should all be getting an email from Apple TestFlight with details about installing the update. 2
psheil99 Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 I also had the annoying notifications on the icon not going away once I had received one. Now I have just updated to the newest release, they have disappeared and looks to be working perfectly

Edu-IT Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Does Tapatalk track all visits? When I am clicking through the app to links, it seems to go via tapatalk?
