he was 0.2 seconds slower than Vettel last week on the Ultra soft. Today only Alonso has been on the softs so no real comparison as they have been working on PU delivery

And the ultra-soft was something like 0.8s faster than the soft last week, wasn't it? Around that mark.

The more I see the Manor livery the more I think it might be my favourite on the grid...

Yes the difference was around 0.8 from the Ultra Soft to the Super Softs, so the fact that Merc got so close on the Soft is impressive. Had they done the run on the Super Soft it wouldn't be such a shocking laptime. But so far it looks like the other teams need to find more pace =/

Ferrari have been testing the new Halo head protection system.

It looks odd. I find it hard to believe that it doesn't restrict the driver's view too much but apparently it doesn't.

Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen tests Formula One's new halo head protection system during testing in Spain - Telegraph

I know, id be interested to see what tedsnotebook has to say about it. I think it will be redesigned but Kimi's thoughts on it is "okay". good old Kimi :D. Once they took it off, he went quickest :p.

I think the word "testing" is a bit stretched, as they only did the initial installation lap this morning with it on the car just to see what the visibility would be like.

Straight ahead view is no really any more impaired than at present with the pitot tubes in the middle of the front bulkhead.

From BBC person on Twitter, the driver's view:

Looks alright for racing. Only concern might be seeing the lights at the start.

Don't they have the start lights in the steering wheels now? For tracks like Silverstone where the starting straight is actually a corner?

Eddie will only be on now and then as they are going to be rotating some of the team for the different live races (plus when EJ isn't needed for Top Gear)

Ah we have more colour on the grid now. Renault have revealed their race colour as mainly yellow but with black wings

Oooh thats nice, but obviously livery doesnt make the car quicker.

Actually the matt paint on the Red Bull has made it lighter by 0.5Kg compared to the gloss apparently....

Of COURSE it does - the modern version of go-faster stripes :getmecoat:

Apparently so, thats what i heard briefly on Teds Notebook and supposed to be less drag resistant. Will see what the times say.

I like that. Like you say, a bit of colour :)

Now we just need to get McLaren back in red & white...

I don't know, I think I've preferred the livery of F1 cars since they stopped being cigarette packets on wheels...
