Hi,

Is there a way to deploy Applications through SCCM 2012 while specifying a specific installation path?

Reason being is because I have applications deploying to the Program Files (x86) folder on 64-bit machines, and Program Files on 32-bit machines. Since the environment I work in uses a shared Start Menu amongst 32-bit/64-bit (slowly progressing to 64-bit), program shortcuts break when on 64-bit machines as they point to Program Files

So far I've tried using:

msiexec /i "installer.msi" INSTALLDIR="C:\Program Files\MyProgram" /qb

This works when you run it on a machine, but it doesn't when you run it under SCCM.

Any ideas?

It is redirected using Group Policy.

Adding Program Files (x86) shortcuts alongside the existing shortcuts was causing a lot of confusion with our users.

If it's the tweaked Start Menu that's barfing it, but I've run a small script which forces the Shell Folders values for Desktop/Start Menu back to the "factory default".

Then you can either put them back, or just have the PC reboot - presumably the GPO will apply each time.

It could also be that it's looking for "My documents" being mapped to H: for the user account you're using to deploy the software.

You could add a line SUBST H: c:\temp (or something) to create an artificial H: drive for it.

Another thing it might be is that for our software deployment server, I've had to add ALLUSERS=1 to the script syntax. Otherwise, it fails with a 1609 error.

All of this might be guff, but at least I tried :)

I am deploying the recent released UE-V 1.0.5 Agent to client computers. I saw that the Offline Files Service (CscService) needs to be running before the installation will run. It seems that the Offline Files Service on Windows 8, by default, is set to Automatic (Trigger Start), which means that it’s not running during the deployment. So I am using the sc.exe tool to enable Offline Files from a command line. To enable the Offline Files feature using the sc.exe command, I need thmming Configuration Manager 2012..hmm
