Caching proxy or direct internet connection?

Internet speeds are a lot quicker now so is there still a need for a caching proxy or should we just point them straight out to the internet?

We haven't cached anything in years. I vote for Straight to the internet!

 

Saying that though - if you have a lot of byod devices then something that caches the apple ios / microsoft windows updates might be an idea although it doesn't seem to affect us much it is noticeable on the firewall logs just how many gb gets downloaded
