How Can I Run an App at Start Up or for Any User at Log On

Hi

I have installed a Backup Scheduler app on our Macbooks/Mac Minis as administrator. I would like this app to run at start up or whenever a student logs on. I have found reference on the web to the 'sudo' command but am not sure how to apply it or if this is the correct route to take? Any Help or pointers would be appreciated.

Do you have a Mac Server or MDM managing them?

They back up to a Mac Server but are not managed by it.

You should be able to use Profile Manager on the Mac Server to initiate the startup apps - however that does mean enrolling every Mac. You could try using Workgroup Manager to do the same which doesn't need enrollment, but it's long in the tooth and will only work if it was installed from an upgraded version of OS X.

 

I'm not sure how to script this - it looks like you'll need to use the launchd process (officially) http://superuser.com/questions/229773/run-command-on-startup-login-mac-os-x
