Steve21 Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Does anyone have an agreement they get students to sign in this scenario that I could have a look at? http://www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/163026-student-laptop-loan-agreement-form.html#post1395687 Steve 1
clockend25 Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Thanks, but I need something for hardware that has been purchased for a PP student. We want it signed for under the understanding that they take responsibility for it and it's use rather than the school. Just wondered if anyone has anything like that they currently use.
Poults Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 If it were me, I'd have a standard home image and just slam that on there. So then at least fixes are quick. As long as the issue isn't physical! This is what we do, when we give the devices out the users and parents/carers are warned that if they are returned with a fault they will be wiped and returned to factory and its their respnsibility to backup. We run 1 or 2 sessions with the users to show the how they can back up to the school etc and leave shortcuts on the desktop to school resources (remote access, email etc). The majority of the time i dont think they get used for school work anyway tbh :/
Oaktech Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 We have an unusually high proportion of LAC and we have had a bewildering array of schemes and devices through the door... We currently have 2 LAC kids who are on directed reduced timetables - meaning they are in school for part of the day under the direction of our specialist PP teacher and at home for the remainder of the day with a weekly work pack to complete. They both have devices bought by the school from their PP money using our Direct Access system. Those devices are unequivocally my responsibility. We have at least 6 kids who have been given devices directly by the LA, these are not attached to our network in any way and I have it in writing from the LA that they must be the first point of contact for any issues, although they have on one occasion phoned me up and asked me to fix the problem - DVD stuck in the drive! We have 4 more kids who have devices that are supplied by, I think, Novatech, under a government scheme and these are the grey area. They have a support sticker on them, which is Novatech, but apparently this only lasts for 2 years. Some of the devices are now 4 years old and essentially the kids have been abandoned with them. Most of the foster carers just deal with any problems (see another board post about a governor who owns a computer shop!) but we have one who has made it the school's problem. I have made them sign a waiver which basically limits my support to 'best effort'. I will look at the device for free, but I will not spend money on the device, and I will not install school licensed software on it aside from Office 365, and I will not be responsible for any of the data it contains. This seems to have worked OK so far.
