J_K11 Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 We have a server that sits in the LA DMZ and runs remote access and PARS, the server needs SIMS on it to run PARS. Until recently everything was working fine all connections being made and all applications working. Last week we needed to do an update and when we ran the process it said it was unable to connect to the database and asked for the relevant credentials, even with these added there was no connection. We then tried running SIMS and it failed saying Reason 0- I know this would indicate that the database cannot be contacted, I’ve checked and the LA assures me that all the relevant ports are open between this server and the SIMS server. The connect ini file is correct and works on my workstation. The Windows firewall is switched off at all levels and despite that I’ve added that all programs can run. When I've checked the SIMS server there is no entry in event viewer that would suggest there was any attempt to connect. It was suspected that this is a network issue so we brought the server into school and connected it. The faults are exactly the same. The DNS settings we believe are correct The database names are correct I’ve done a clean install of SIMS I’ve installed SIMS on another server and it works fine Nothing appears to resolve it, pulling my greying hair out. Any ideas would be welcomed.
psydii Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 run procmon and double check that the connect.ini you are expecting is the one actually in use.
J_K11 Posted January 19, 2016 Author Posted January 19, 2016 Ran procmon and all appeared fine until I tried logging into SIMS, under the network tab there were no entries at all. On my machine there were over 700. It appears that it's not leaving the server
psydii Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Search the results for connect.ini and confirm that it contains the setting you are expecting. I suspect it has an entry for localhost as the SQL server
dapaulio Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Check the connect.ini on the computer c:\Windows points to s: drive. Should have something like redirect = s:\sims Or should be an exact clone of the connect.ini on your s: drive. Redirect would be better as it's easier to manage the connection in one place than in 100's
