IT Support by the hour

Can anyone recommend a company who provide bespoke IT support? For years I have worked closely with a local company but recently they have started pushing their annual support packages more and more and I'm getting a little fed up with it.

 

I dont need much external support but like the idea of a company with MS trained engineers I can call if something major breaks and needs immediate attention like a domain controller or exchange failing one morning. Someone who can say, we have taken a look and that will be X amount of hours at this rate to do.

 

Does such a place exist or will everywhere push a support package? Microsoft and VMWare is preferable to my situation.

I know DMS are based down in Kent, and I've used their services before. Not sure about hourly rates but they certainly know their stuff.

Have you thought about seeing if any secondary schools in the areas can help?

I'm a network manager at a secondary school, and I have a couple primary schools that phone me up in "oh shit" moments that I sell my time too privately.

DMS are at BETT, I use them here. Admittedly I use their yearly contract but it gives me 10 days onsite technician time.

We've got DMS contracts in both my schools. They were great when our PDC up a died, or we lost a server room.

At my last place, we used DMS and they were great. They also run free technical seminars which were really good.
