Dos_Box Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 With just over 2 weeks to go before BETT 2016 opens its doors we are in the final stages of running around panicking planning for this years BETT show. Part of this is getting enough people to man the stand and due to unforeseen circumstances amongst our staff we now have a couple of slots we need to fill. So, if you’d like to come to BETT and help out on the EduGeek stand please let me know. All we ask is that you make your own way to London. Once there we shall provide accommodation and meals. Just bring some spending money as we do go out each night. And an Oyster card! We have spaces for 1 x female and 1 x male for 5 nights (arrive Tues 19th Jan – depart Sunday 24th Jan) and 1 x male for 3 nights (19th – 21st). Please note rooms are shared (twin). The hotel we have is at Tower Hill and we get the DLR in to Excel every morning (15 min journey) after breakfast at the Minories pub If you can make it for any of these dates, please let me know via PM asap. Even if you can only do one or two nights everything helps. We shall let applicants know by close of play Wednesday if they have been selected. You will get time off to go and have a look around (once things quieten down) and if you’ve never helped out before you will get to meet all of us lovely people and see BETT in a whole new light Oh, and you’ll also get one of our awesome new EduGeek pit-crew style polo shirts!

ICTDirect_Dave Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Don't forget the daily pizza order. That sweetens the deal even further!
elsiegee40 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 It is a good idea to bring some throat sweets with you. By Saturday talking will be painful
Joanne Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I lost my voice about an hour in on the Thursday! #VoiceFail I'm definitely bringing some this time.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Also worth making sure you've got a bottle of water nearby for the day. The air con in the Excel does leave you dehydrated.
robk Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Batteries and Phone Chargers are handy, will make sure I bring spares....
Joanne Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 There's a little paper shop in the excel building. 2l bottle was 2 for £2 last year. Bargain!
john Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 and if you want to keep on the best side of @ZeroHour you need to bring Milk full fat milk none of this light / diet / eco milk real man milk for ZH!
Dos_Box Posted January 5, 2016 Author Posted January 5, 2016 Or som eof that nice Starbucks stuff you find in the fridges. Seriously folks. You've never seen anything like @ZeroHour until his first coffee of the day. It looks something like this: Followed swiftly by a 'Malk!' and 'Whut!'. Then we're good to go for the day
X-13 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 real man milk for ZH! This is a family friendly forum!
elsiegee40 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 This is a family friendly forum! Talking of which, will we be seeing your Mum again this year? 2
X-13 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Talking of which, will we be seeing your Mum again this year? Possibly on the Saturday. There's snowballs chance in hell that she'd get the time off work for it. 1
GrumbleDook Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Thread hijacking, but some of the tips are good. I will be curating the #tips4bett hashtag this year (partly in memory of the late, great Dave Coleman) so feel free to add more in. Work are allowing me to do it so the tweets will be curated on my work blog and go from both mine and the work twitter account. 1
Joanne Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Sent some in @GrumbleDook hope that's what you mean anyways!!! 1
GrumbleDook Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Spotted and perfect. There will be some duplication but to me that will show the importance of some tips! Created a proper thread for it now. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/bett-2016/164053-tips4bett.html
Dos_Box Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 *BUMP* This is a serious offer guys. If you want to help out and see BETT at the same time please let me know.
BKGarry Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I can offer help on the Friday and Saturday, but cannot get the time off on Wednesday or Thursday, I won't need a hotel, as I can get there pretty easily and quickly thanks to the new fangled High Speed 1 service. Let me know if you want some help then.
