Norphy Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 "Watch the new trailer featuring Rhianna's new single" Oh boy, that can't be good
LeMarchand Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Tempted to watch but a) Will definitely be seeing the film so, spoilers b) Rihanna The new Empire has a Trek supplement with an obviously last-minute extra insert with a sweet tribute to Anton Yelchin.
Lonix Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 At first watching the trailers I was thinking a huge no.. after watching what's been recently released.. I think I might give it a go at the cinema. Will wait to see how long it runs for. Anything above 2 hours might be a no no. Also adding that I don't like how they turned Kirk in to some one constantly doubting him self... one thing William Shatner certainly didn't bring. He made it feel like he was the Captain.
Norphy Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 As much as I love The Shatner, I don't think he could bring self doubt to a role if he wanted to. Have you ever watched those documentaries about Star Trek that the man produced? Good lord, arrogance isn't the word!
6Foot2 Posted July 18, 2016 Author Posted July 18, 2016 Simon Pegg on Twitter: Link: https://twitter.com/simonpegg/status/754794239603728385 For those whose access to both Twitter and the image hosting site (above) is blocked: If you are planning to go see Star Trek Beyond, Simon suggests you avoid all TV Spots and trailers from this point forward. 1
LeMarchand Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 For those whose access to both Twitter and the image hosting site (above) is blocked: Cheers! That'll be me! I find that once you've seen a trailer or two and are sure you're going to see a film this is generally a good policy. I didn't even bother with the last trailer, though Rihanna's wailings had a lot to do with that.

Dos_Box Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Star Trek Beyond: An unwatchable steaming pile of tribble dung | The Register Damn. That now leaves me with two free hours this weekend
elsiegee40 Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 The Times gives it 4 stars. @witch is going to see it tonight
Norphy Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Other reviews that I've seen have said the film is OK. Both the Guardian and the Telegraph gave it reasonable reviews.
LeMarchand Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Damn. That now leaves me with two free hours this weekend If you want to see the film, don't let bad reviews put you off. There are plenty of films that are now hailed as classics that got poor notices on release. (Not that I think that STB will be one of those!). I'm still going middle of next week.

I'm still smarting from the last Independance Day movie!
Norphy Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Yes but everyone said that sucked. As I said before, most of the reviews I've seen of Beyond have been fair.
LeMarchand Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 I'm still smarting from the last Independance Day movie! In that case: This is not the movie you are looking for. You obviously have very high standards. I though IDR was entertaining enough. Expecting STB to be OK, too.
LeMarchand Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 @Dos_Box, if you're more of a Next Gen guy start saving for one of these...
