Adobe Creative Cloud 2015 Packages

Has anyone successfully deployed Adobe Creative Cloud packages, and if so how did you do it?

 

I was initially hoping to create a package for Adobe DC only, one for Photoshop only and one for the whole suite to be deployed in different areas of the school using Group Policy. It quickly became apparent due to the size that we are just going to habve to instal the whole lot on our base image and reimage everything instead though.

 

The problem is that we can't get a package created that works. Using the Adobe packager, Adobe DC looked to work, but fails to install with nothing in the Windows event logs or any of the Adobe logs inC:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Adobe.

 

The Photoshop package worked but took 5 hours to create and 8 hours to install on my trial computer (Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 at 2.93 Ghx with 4GB RAM). I was installing it from a folder on the local disk.

 

That's the point I gave up with individual packages and thought I'd just install everything on my base image. So far, creating a package that includes the whole suite has taken 34 hours and it's only 56% complete. I still have to install it and hope it actually works.

 

Our computers all have 1GB connectivity from the edge to the core switches, so no issues there, and the internet speed is 100mbps. We do go through a proxy though, could this be the issue?

 

Has anyone had more luck than us? Or can any point me in the direction of any useful logs? This seems like a massive step backwards from a good old DVD or ISO with the software on.

It's an annoying way but this is how I deployed it (to just one machine though...)

 

Building packages is dependent on your internet connection for the initial download of the installers (which are then cached for later use if needed) and updates. Just as a comparison my C2D based box takes no more than an hour to download and build a package of 5 CC applications. The oldest machines (single core CPU, 1GB ram and some also have IDE HDDs) take around 30-40 mins to install two separately packaged applications (MSI deployed via GP) depending on how much load my fileserver is under.

 

edit - also make sure that your proxy isn't filtering anything and that you build the packages on a machine that has NOT had any adobe software installed (thanks adobe!)
