Office 365 multiple domains

Hi,

I have a new school who wants to go to 365, alongside there .sch.uk address can they also import a .com domain which they have some staff using for email? Would they retain educational discount by having a .com domain imported to office 365? The idea would be they could have both email addresses running at the same time?

Hi yes that is possible you need to login to the office 365 portal and add another domain i have 2 domain running with all accounts having 2 email addresses. you will not be charged as your main account is an educational account

Yes. You'll have one primary domain and then you can add in the additional domains. On the mailboxes you can then either add in the additional secondary SMTP addresses or script it through Powershell.

As above, if you start with the .sch.uk domain first as this is unique to schools and will apply the O365 discount or free! Then add the .com afterwards and do it that way.

 

Some schools who don't use an .sch.uk will probably have a harder time proving they're a school, as .com's and .org's are in the public domain that anyone can register.

thank you for the fast replies, so emails could come into their mailboxes from both email addresses and they could have have a option which account to reply from?

The .sch.uk could be the primary and the .com an alias - or you can specify some Staff to use one or the other only.

This is set through the admin side of things, it's not down to the end user to do when they write their email.
