Hi,

I want to reduce the number of steps required for parents to get to a student's report in SLG. (Currently 8!)

Is there an easy way to make it so when you log in, it goes straight to the Pupil Dashboard (where you select which of your children you wish to view)?

Also, can we make it so if you go to portal.yourdomain.com it forwards straight to /slg or to a different site rather than displaying Access Denied message?

Thanks,

The structure of SharePoint dictates that the parent lands on the site collection landing page rather than directly to the Parent or Student dashboards. There are 4 clicks needed to access the report.

The second part of the question being asked is around bypassing the parent dashboard to the student dashboard – unfortunately the way that the parent dashboard was coded, relies on the student being selected which means they have to go to the parent dashboard first.

We are working on the next generation of SLG and this is an area that will be reworked.

We made a workaround where we created 3 links on our website one for each of the sites (students, parents and teachers) eg one of the links is domain.com/slg/students another is domain.com/slg/parents.

This will pass you through to the correct site.

To choose a homepage on sharepoint 2013 for each slg site log in as admin select the student site then choose the page you want as it's homepage then click on assign as homepage from the top navigation. Repeat for the other slg sites.
