[windows tablet] Surface Pro 3 Recovery Image

[RANT] I hate Microsoft!!!!! whys nothing simple with them one of our surface pro 3 is just doing a cycle reboot, I tried doing the restore option ( which worked on the others) But this one keeps getting stuck and restarting.

So it looks like I need a Recovery Image... Microsoft website has instructions for this, go in select device enter serial number but then NO its a enterprise hardware you cant have the device image this way contact business support.

Phone up Business support, talk to a lady who takes the details and passes me on to surface support tell him the problem oh you need to be through to Surface business support ill transfer you. Back to the lady again who wants all my details AGAIN ( is it conected to a domain or standalone) neither since its not booting up to be told that there is no direct lines to business support and i would have to go to support.microsoft.com/OAS to book a return call. There is no where that I can see to book a call just a list of numbers and a uk one which is the one I called earlier.

 

Any one have a secret number?

Or can I make a recovery image from another surface pro 3? how will this affect the windows licencing as theres no key on the back of the machines?

You should be able to reinstall Windows on your SP3 just like you do with any Windows PC. i.e.

 

1. Download Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft.
   
2. Use Rufus to create a bootable USB flash drive from the ISO.
   
3. Boot Surface Pro from flash drive and do a clean install of Windows.
   
4. Install Surface Pro 3 drivers.
   

Windows will read the product key that's embedded in the firmware so you shouldn't be prompted for one.

assuming its like a surface one you can move / copy the recovery image to a usb and use that cant see why you couldn't do that from another surface BUT I suspect the recovery image will be pro if that's what it shipped from the factory with same as I restored a surface pro one and it restored it to windows 8.0
