SimpleSi Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I've had a new smartboard 4065 LCD board installed last (and not had much time to play with it) but it is interactive for about 5-10 mins after computer is switched on. Tomorrow I'm going to have a full play with it and try it with another computer but has anyone else had this fault? Simon PS I'm running the old 11.4 software
Tirito Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 These boards require 15.xx software to function properly. We have 4 of the exact same boards at our school, they are all running 15.1 and are all working fine. We got the licenses for the software with the purchase of the boards. Hope that helps. P.S. They also do funny things when connected to USB 3.0 ports, stick with USB 2.0. 1
Techykev Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Are you using the latest drivers/smart ink with your Notebook 11.4 software or just the drivers that came with the software? https://www.smarttech.com/Support/Browse+Support/Download+Software/Software/SMART+Product+Drivers+and+Ink/SMART+Product+Drivers+and+Ink/SMART+Product+Drivers+12+Win We are now using the latest drivers with the Notebook 11.4 software, you will have to remove the older drivers first and may get a message saying the new drivers may not be fully compatible with the older Notebook but we have had no problems since upgrading our drivers last month. May be worth a try. 1
SimpleSi Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) OK - tried the V12 drivers - at least don't get error x on smartboard tray icon saying its not connected but still stops working after 5-10 mins I've completey removed all Smart software and re-installed - situation tried disabling everything else using msconfig - no diff INstalled the v12 drivers on a laptop - works fine I think I'm left with having to re-image this computer but I hate doing that (Cause I don't run domain so have to backup all files etc So any last thoughts before I go down this route? Michael Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 You should be able to install the newer 12 drivers, over any existing drivers 11.4 shipped with by default. I've certainly done this with a Windows 10 image I built recently.
SimpleSi Posted November 25, 2015 Author Posted November 25, 2015 Never ever done a BIOS update on any computer I'l try simple re-image first I think
TommyCooper Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 4065's can be picky about the total length of the USB cable (including anything that's fitted in dado trunking). Try a shorter cable directly between PC and the panel, and make sure it's connected to a USB 2 port not a USB 3 one.

dapaulio Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 We had a similar issue Whats the total cable length between Computer and smartboard. Not the distance between computer and smartboard. I replaced the cable between trunking and projector with a 20m (I thought) usb cable with an inline active booster however Vision don't seem to have them on their website anymore. the longest they do is 15m USB Cable and Adaptors TC 15MUSB+ [sAP:3004953] 15 metres (49.2 feet) *10+ and 15+ models have an in-line active booster (48 mm / 1.9″ long x 25 mm / 0.98″ wide) integrated half way along cable. When used with Vision’s Techconnect modular faceplate recommends using with the TC2 USB+ active booster module with all cables longer than 5m (16.4 ft).
TommyCooper Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Have you tried another computer to see if that show the same fault? If it still drops the connection after 5 to 10 mins I'd suggest getting hold of the serial number and contacting Steljes (the warranty holder for most 4065s sold in the UK). They might have some other suggestions for you to try but they can probably also help if it's still under warranty and has a fault.
SimpleSi Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 I wont go into all my trials and tribulations with this fault but I finally managed today to clone a working teacher machine to the strange behaviour one and now it works fine! The teacher is now by bestest friend and loves the much superior registration that interacitve displays have - and the price of the board was £2600 which is a heck of a lot less than a few years ago and makes it a no brainer to buy an old 600 series for £1000. Of course, we'll have to see how long they last......... Hopefully in another 5 years - we'll have stick on sheets of OLED paper on all walls Simon
