I had an ipad that went black yesterday, if I plug it into Configurator 2 it states it's in DFU mode. I can't get the cable logo to appear for recovery mode at all.

iTunes/Config 1 and Config 2 all offer me the option to restore the iPad, but then the it gets stuck at installing ios 9.1, waiting for ipad and nothing happens. There is an Apple and a grey line on the ipad but the grey line doesn't move, and in Configurator 1 they timer is just empty, where you can normally see it filling up.

Not sure what else to try, I've been round the circles of rebooting it, trying to get it into recovery mode.

Any suggestions. I've left it for an hour so far, and nothing has changed. The white line isn't moving and it appears to be stuck.

Hold power + home buttons. When Apple logo appears, release power button but keep pressing home button until cable image appears

Yes, It's not responding to that.

I suspect it's going to end up needing to go back to Apple, but I have the owner of the iPad breathing down my neck wanting it back.

We have loads that this bsod (black screen of death) happens to... I've found it's where the battery runs out completely and it gets stuck in a boot loop where it doesn't have enough charge to boot, but can't charge itself enough before wanting to boot.

Every time this has happened, holding power + home together for 30 seconds has got it to the Apple logo, and releasing the power button but holding home at this point has got it to the cable screen. Sounds bizarre that yours isn't!

Try the following -

- Leave the iPad charging via the mains for a few hours

- Connect the USB cable to a computer running iTunes

- Press and hold the shoulder and home button for approx. 7 seconds

It should stick, so you can at least re-install iOS from iTunes. Hope this helps!

Finally took this to the Genius bar this morning, who very usefully did exactly what I'd already tried and said 'yes, it's broken', They had no further options to try to fix it, and just offered me a replacement for £199. Considering that's all I paid for them in the first place, I didn't think it was a great offer.

If its in warranty with them or you have apple care, get it raised with Apple as faulty and they will sort it out so you ship it to them for repair / replacement free of charge (as long as its not damaged) we have three just sorted by them, which were re-certified ones that come with 1 year apple warranty.

I have an issue with three Ipads, I can boot them to recovery mode but for the life of me, can't get them to communicate with the mac, I have tried ITunes, Merikai and Apple configurator, just stays on the insert cable screen. What am I doing wrong?
