Laptop not projecting

Hi,

 

I have a Fujitsu A514 Laptop running Windows 8.1 OS. In the class room the laptop and promethean projector work fine. But when I try to use the laptop on another projector it does not work. I cannot tell what projector it is as it is in a cage in the hall. I have double checked the drivers and they seem to be up-to-date. Display adapter is Intel® HD Graphics Family. I have changed the source settings on the projector but still no luck. Any suggestions are welcome.....

Have you tried reducing the resolution on the notebook to something like 1024 x 768? It could be the projector cannot handle higher resolutions.

Hi Michael,

 

I have tried changing the resolution but the only one that it works with is 1280 x 720, but the issue there is some of the items on the screen do not fit. Is there anything else I can do to resolve the issue??

Try updating the graphics driver on your notebook.

I've had an issue like this recently and the solution for me was to use the intel graphics control panel to set everything - symptoms for me were the duplicate function did nothing, setting output in control panel gave an 'unable to save settings' error.

Thanks. After the driver update the projector and laptop working fine. But now when I open PowerPoint 2013 and use presentation mode the laptop loses connection to the projector. The projector comes up with a message out of range. This only happens in presentation mode and not in normal mode in PowerPoint. I have tried the below:

This method does not work because I do not have the following in my laptop registry:

 

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\PowerPoint\Options]

"RestoreTopology"=dword:00000001

 

I can navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\PowerPoint anything beyond this does not exists (Options]

"RestoreTopology"=dword:00000001).

Making sure "use presenter view" is turned off fixed this for me.

Turning off user presenter view has sorted the issue out!!!

From what I can tell presenter view changes the display settings to extend instead of duplicate. I have found that some laptops just stay on extended desktop and others receieve out of range like you have experienced. I believe there is a group policy setting for it but not 100% sure.
