nathan Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Just looking into some netgear gs752tsb stackable switches, am i correct in saying that you have to use SFP's to stack them? I'm looking at the ones listed on broadband buyer > NETGEAR GS752TSB ProSafe 48-Port Smart Stackable Gigabit Switch w/ 6x Combo SFP Ports I'm just trying to work out how the stacking works, how do you link them together to provide the high availability? As you can tell, i'm pretty new to stackable switches.
SHimmer45 Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 having quickly looks at the manual http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/datasheet/en/GS728TS-GS728TPS-GS752TS-GS752TPS.pdf 4 of the SFP's are used for stacking if im reading it correctly. id imagine if 4 SFP are used they work as 2 pairs.

hallb15 Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 There are two 2.5Gb SFP ports on each switch so you can daisy chain them, but yes if one switch fails, then any above it in the stack will also fail. smithson83 Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I can't attest to these specific switches, but usually you create a ring on stacked switches, so the top of the stack connects to the bottom of the stack. that way if one switch fails the stack can still operate ie SW1>SW2>SW3>SW4>SW1
