Adding Student Pics to Sims

Hi,

I have been Given a CD that the Photographer took with 400 Student Images on, they all hae the UN number so thats Fine, but how do I import them to SIMS?

I have looked online and it says go to,

Routines>Pupil/Students> Batch Import Photographs, By Admission number,

but I don't have this option on my Sims?

Also Anyone know about the License from Capita to upload pics?

Either manually one by one Or using the built in photo importer that requires the license £70 (that's what you mentioned)

 

It's routines - student - batch import - by admission, but obviously permission wise you might need to check what you have on the account

Did the photographer give you a SIMS photo license file thing? If not you prob need to buy it direct from Capita - @David_Grashoff is the man to ask.

Once per annual license. So depends if you mean a one-off year/photo session or yearly etc

They just sent a CD with a letter that said, "if you use Sims software and would like to take advantage of the "Batch Photo import" you can order this from Capita.

Hi Mark - if the images are named with the UPN you may have problems as it should be the 6 digit admission number. if you can't see the batch import route it could be you are logged into SIMS without the correct permissions. One final point who is your photographer ?

The UN number cannot be used to match pupils (by law). Only the DfE are allowed to use it in this way.

The photographers should never have had access to UPNs...

 

If however you do find yourself with a load of files with UPNs rather than admission numbers, you can use something like IrfanView to rename them all from a CSV (which SIMS can produce) so that you can still do the import.

I use bulkrenameutility there are a few threads that cover the process. Without a license though you might as well start doing them one by one

Our photographers always supply the disc with images by Admission number and the license file, so it's a simple batch import.
