Hi all,

My Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 is getting too long in the tooth. I'm doing a restore right now and its taking forever due to the archive size.

I need incremental backups daily and am backing up at least 2TB of data.

Compression is fairly important.

Restore speed is a must.

What backup software are you guys using?

... Need some suggestions.

Cheers in advance :)

Are you backing up physical or virtual machines?

In fact... cloud backup is a factor too. BackupAssist looks ok. Bit pricey for what it is though.

Not sure what you mean? BackupAssist is one of the cheapest on the market and has good support that goes with it. £108 for a license? Cheap as chips.

Add on the support, 2 Licences, cloud backup - getting on for £600. Suppose it's not bad.

In fact compare that to Acronis and it is cheap. You're right @localzuk

I'm sitting here looking at Acronis trying to check it's archive for the last hour. I only want 1 folder restored :(

What add on support are you referring to? We've never paid for anything beyond upgrade assurance renewals.

So, 2 licenses would be £216, offiste backup would be £104. That's £320. Renewal, would then be £132pa, or £208 every 2 years.

Have a look at Veeam Endpoint Backup Free. It has to be set up on each server and has basic functionality, but works very well for me at home (Veeam Backup & Replication at school... only need to backup VMs). It'll do compression and deduplication and will do incremental backups on a schedule. I assume that you use Veeam B&R; if so, it'll integrate with that too.
