Profile Manager - Is anyone using it successfully with 1,000+ iOS devices?

Just as an out of interest is anyone successfully using Profile Manager with 1,000+ iOS Devices?

 

If so are you integrating it with AD?

 

If yes are you using just the user accounts in OD user groups or are you using AD Security Groups?

 

My experience thus far with Profile Manager is less than positive and before I abandon it all together I want to ensure

I would abandon it, Apple don't advise Profile Manager for large deployments it does not scale well.

...is that officially documented anywhere? I can see a number of people stating very similar views but need to back it up in some way.

We were using profile manager but no where near a 1000 devices. We abandoned it and went for casper suite.

No i was told this in person from a Senior iOS engineer at Apple.

I was just hoping for something a little more concrete to pass by management who've spotted £30 MDM and like the look of the price

 

I'm not complaining at you as I would have been a little surprised that Apple would document it quite as black and white as I'd hoped. But if you don't ask . . .

As Quakers has said, Profile Manager is not designed to large iPad deployments, in the words of Apple's most senior engineer it is a "Proof of Concept MDM"

 

I don't even use Profile Manager to create Mac images anymore....

We run 500 iOS devices and about 300 desktops fine with profile manager.

 

Well, I say "run" it should be "ran" as since upgrading to server 5 we are having trouble with the profile manager database and VPP.
