Hello everyone,

Today I tested the our new leased line via our DrayTek and I ran into a strange issue. I have allowed all the ports on the DrayTek that Lightspeed request but clients lost their connections and BYOD stuff stopped receiving the captive portal when first connecting to the web so couldn't authenticate. However, they could browse to lsaccess.me and login manually!

The current setup we're moving from has our ISP coming through a Sonicwall box and that works a treat. I'd love to continue using the Sonicwall but it won't accept the connection info from our new ISP.

I.P: xxx.xx.104.47

G.W: xxx.xx.104.46

Subnet: 255.255.255.254

The Sonicwall won't accept that subnet and can be fudged with a subnet of 224 but this just creates other issues.

My query is that is there anyone else using a DrayTek with a Lightspeed Rocket that would be willing to share what settings they have in place so that I can compare?

As always, thanks in anticipation!

Anyone got any idea or knows of anyone or a company who knows what they're doing on the DrayTeks?

Need to try and this resolved on Monday of possible!

Thanks

I've dealt with drayteks. Do the BYOD devices and have a gateway of the drayteks IP or your actual gateway. If the actual gateway, then the draytek won't pass through the request for the lightspeed device.

Took a while for me to work that one out myself.

The DrayTek is the Gateway so the IP is dished out via DHCP.

I've never used a DrayTek before but was advised to go down this route by the ISP as they knew there connection works on them. The Sonicwall was a doddle to setup and was very intuitive but I'm not liking this Vigor 2925 one bit.

Call me on Tuesday (earliest I am available unless I manage to get some free time tomorrow) and I can teamviewer in if you like? We can work on it together?

My last role involved me configuring a 2925 for a new fibre connection with a BT box.

Well I contacted DrayTek premium rate telephone support today and what a waste of time that was.

I could hardly understand the chap who was supposed to be helping me and by the time I had finished explaining the situation we were 1/2 hour into the call and got cut off! Great!

@featured_spectre - I'm going to have to be onsite tomorrow so can I please contact you? Cheers

Is that subnet mask correct? You shouldn't get any usable IP addresses from that. It will only contain 2 address and they will be taken by the network and broadcast address.

Could the subnet mask be 255.255.255.252? In that you get 4 IP's. 1 for Network, 1 for Broadcast and 2 usable addresses. One of those usable addresses will be taken by the default gateway so you will then have 1 left to assign to the router.

If you get really stuck our new Suppliers Broadband 4 are using this exact set up. I don't have the equipment on site yet to poke about for you, but if you were to call them and ask I'm sure they will help.
